The CV-1 electric car was inspired by a model made in the 1970s called Izh-Kombi (IZh 21252) and it was build by Kalashnikov. The company is the famous manufacturer of the feared AK-47 weapon, and it has lately tried to expand to other markets. It began to launch clothes, umbrellas, or cell phone covers and now electric cars.

CV-1: The retro-inspired electric

The maximum speed of CV-1 electric car is 80 km / h and the manufacturer hopes that it will be able to compete with Elon Musk’s Tesla. However, a company spokesman has not been able to show the potential advantages of this car over Tesla. The reasons behind the lack of arguments could be that the car is in a phase that’s far from mass production. Even so, the manufacturer does not hesitate to promote this car with the “electric supercar” slogan. It was stated that the car will “let us stand in the ranks of global electric car producers such as Tesla.”

The model has a range of 350 km per charge. So far, Kalashnikov has not announced when the electric car will be available or how much it will cost. It’s hard to believe that a car with such a retro design is able to compete with Tesla at a wold-wide level. But it may sell well in Russia, especially since Tesla has not sold many units in this country. Even so, it’s a huge step forward for a company that’s known for building weapons of destruction. It’s a great step forward for humanity!
