Following a similar article on SGS5, I’ve decided to create an article about Apple’s last smartphone, the iPhone 6. As the title suggests, I am going to list 7 reasons why I’m not so found of this device. I want to state from the beginning that this is not a hate article, so if you are a hardcore Apple fan please don’t take it personal and don’t get too offended. I’m merely letting the world know my honest opinion on the topic. Here we go:
1. The design
I would have never thought the day would come when I would be bored by the design of a device created by Apple. In the past, you could have recognized their products just by a quick glance. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus look … like everything we’ve seen before on the market. Just take a look at HTC One and you will understand.
2. Battery life
While other manufacturers are making a lot of effort to create devices with better battery life, the new iPhone 6 was presented as a device that has similar or slightly improved battery performances over the previous model. So, if you are lucky, your device will last 4-5 hours of heavy usage. But don’t worry, if you carry the charging cable with you all the time everything will be just fine..
3. The overall features feel like …2012
I’m not even going to list my arguments for this one, you should just watch the image above and see where I’m hinting at. Of course, the is looks and moves great, but the technology looks obsolete.
4. No water resistance
Nothing was mentioned about iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus being resistant to water. For some of you, it may not be such a big deal, but I love not being extra-careful with my smartphone when it’s raining outside or when a water incident happens. My guess is that this technology was not invented back in 2012… (please endure my dark humor).
5. Apple Pay – No Way
I have nothing against this feature, in fact I find it very useful. I am only concerned about the security of my personal data. I’m not sure if you are aware of it, but in the last weeks, plenty of nude celebrity photos leaks surfaced from their personal iCloud accounts, and this gave me enough reasons not to trust Apple with my credit card information. And when I think that I’ve always thought Apple is better when it comes to security…
6. No sapphire display
I hate the fact that the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus don’t have a sapphire crystal display. Of course it looks nice, but what’s the purpose of creating a good-looking device if the users are going to keep it in a case at all times. We really need a better iPhone in terms of durability, and iPhone 6 is definitely not it.
7. The main camera has lots of features but…
…the same 8-megapixel sensor. Oh girl, it’s the same camera used on iPhone 4S with minor improvements. While fans are begging for a camera with at least 12MP, Apple engineers are focusing on creating better slow motion effects. For photography fans like me, this feature is really important, and I absolutely hate the current camera on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Conclusions
I’m sure that most of you will find the user experience on the new iPhones captivating and attractive, but you should know there are things that are far from innovative on this devices. In fact, some of them were implemented by other manufacturers 2 years ago… I have the impression that Apple is slowly changing their product strategy…
