Xiaomi, a trailblazer in the smartphone industry, continues to push the boundaries of innovation with its latest offering – the Xiaomi 13T. Packed with cutting-edge features, this device seamlessly combines power, precision, and style to deliver an exceptional user experience. In this article, we’ll explore the key features that make the Xiaomi 13T stand out in the crowded smartphone market. I am making this small review after using the phone for 1 month straight.
Performance: I loved it
At the heart of the Xiaomi 13T lies a formidable CPU configuration. Featuring a 1x Arm Cortex-A78 clocked at up to 3.1GHz, 3x Arm Cortex-A78 at up to 3.0GHz, and 4x Arm Cortex-A55 at up to 2.0GHz, this smartphone is a true powerhouse. The Mali-G610 GPU ensures seamless graphics performance, making the device ideal for both gaming and productivity tasks.
These being said, the Xiaomi 13T doesn’t compromise on storage and speed. With features like 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM paired with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, users can expect swift multitasking and ample space for apps, media, and files.
The display: not bad at all
The Xiaomi 13T boasts a stunning flat display with FHD+ AMOLED technology, measuring 6.67 inches diagonally. The 20:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels result in a crisp and vibrant visual experience. The adaptive 144Hz refresh rate, coupled with features like AdaptiveSync and a touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz, ensures smooth interactions and responsiveness. The screen responded really fast and I can truly see a difference from a 60Hz phone.
The Cameras – well, this is where it lacks for me
Equipped with a Leica professional optical lens system, the Xiaomi 13T’s rear camera setup is a photography enthusiast’s dream. The 50MP main camera, 50MP telephoto camera with up to 20x digital zoom, and 12MP ultra-wide camera deliver versatility and exceptional image quality. Leica photographic styles, filters, and the Xiaomi Imaging Engine add an artistic touch to your photos. On the front, a 20MP camera with features like Night mode and Portrait mode ensures stunning selfies.
My main complain about this phone is the selfie camera. In low light it’s absolutely terrible (in a bad way). Xiaomi tries to compensate with automatic AI retouching making the images really artificial, noisy and dull. Even worse, “thanks to AI”, my face in low light is way different than the real one. I would say that my 9T Pro, a phone released 4 years ago takes better pictures in low light with the selfie camera. Not even the Google Cam apk can fix this issue. This is the reason why I’m constantly thinking of returning this phone.
Fast Charging and Long-Lasting Battery – Oh yes
The Xiaomi 13T addresses one of the common pain points of smartphone users – battery life. With a 5000mAh battery and 67W turbo charging, the device charges from 0 to 100% in just 42 minutes. This, coupled with up to 16 hours of video playback and up to 100 hours of music playback, ensures that the device keeps up with your busy lifestyle.
To prevent overheating during prolonged usage or intense tasks, Xiaomi incorporates LiquidCool Technology with a 5000mm2 stainless steel VC and multi-layer graphite sheets. This ensures optimal thermal management, maintaining peak performance even under demanding conditions.
So, what we missed?
The Xiaomi 13T takes user security seriously with an in-screen fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock. The inclusion of NFC, 5G connectivity, and Wi-Fi 6 capability further enhances the device’s versatility, making it future-proof for evolving network technologies. With dimensions of 162.2mm x 75.7mm x 8.49mm for the glass version and 8.62mm for the PU version, the Xiaomi 13T strikes a balance between aesthetics and ergonomics. The device also carries an IP68 rating, certifying its resistance to water and dust, adding durability to its list of attributes.
Running on MIUI 14 based on Android 13, the Xiaomi 13T brings the latest software enhancements to the table. The package includes dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio certification, and support for various audio and video formats, promising a multimedia experience that matches the device’s high-end specifications.
Conclusion:
In the competitive landscape of smartphones, the Xiaomi 13T emerges as a standout option, combining top-tier performance, advanced camera capabilities, fast charging, and a sleek design. With a focus on innovation and user experience, Xiaomi continues to raise the bar for what consumers can expect from a premium smartphone. I have mixed feelings about this phone. If you are not so much into photography, it will be a great companion for you.
