“I will never drink again”! We have this moment at least once in our lifetime, when we wake up with a tingling headache and a stomach spinning like a washing machine and there is nothing that we can do. Well, actually, there are few things that will ease the symptoms and make you cope with the whole situation.
The first tip we have for you is not nice: If you feel like you should vomit, do it! This is the way the body removes toxins.
If you can not survive without a sedative, then choose an Aspirin or Ibuprofen. Avoid Paracetamol because it can affect your liver if you have drunk alcohol.
Hangover Remedies
To reduce the terrible headaches that are associated with a hard partying night, try one of the remedies below. Most of them will limit the impact of alcohol on your body.
As soon as you wake up, drink two large glasses of water to counteract dehydration. This is the first step towards a rapid improvement. Also, drink a large glass of grapefruit juice, oranges or tomatoes. Fruit juice contains fructose, which speeds up the metabolism of alcohol.
If you are a coffee consumer, drink one or two cups of coffee as soon as possible. Caffeine produces cerebral vasoconstriction. In other words, it diminishes the diameter of dilated cerebral blood vessels. You should also know that, just like alcohol, caffeine is a diuretic. If you drink too much, you’ll be dehydrated even more.
Recover with snacks
Once you have overcome the nausea, prepare a bowl of chicken soup. It will replace the amounts of salt and potassium that the body lost when you were drank. Also, a banana milkshake is a great way to replace potassium and other nutrients that were lost by your body. Mix ½ cup of milk with a banana and two teaspoons of honey in a blender. Banana is a good source of potassium and honey is rich in fructose.
Get on the move!
This one can get difficult. Although the instinct tells you to stay in bed all day long, you will feel better if you take a short stroll or run out. Thus, you will increase the secretion of endorphins, the natural analgesics of the body. Increased alcohol consumption reduces the amount of endorphins in the body.
How to prevent hangover
Drink slowly! The body metabolizes alcohol at a constant rate of about 30 ml per hour. If you give the body some more time to metabolize it, the brain will get less alcohol. Alternate alcoholic beverages with mineral water, fruit juice and other alcohol-free drinks.
Important advice! Avoid champagne and any carbonated alcoholic beverages (gin tonic and rum with cola is a good example in this regard). Acid causes the alcohol to get into the blood a lot faster.
